Pedal Powered Landspeeder X-34

I decided to make a “bumper sticker” that I think any young “Luke” would appreciate.

One way to intensify your kids workout is to weigh down their pedal car down with a few dozen pounds of wood. However, I doubt that was the inspiration blogsdo had when he turned his sons “Original KettCar” into a Pedal Powered Landspeeder X-34. This dad just may be a strong contender for the father of the year award for this awesome birthday gift.

He did not intend to document his build so there is not a whole lot to report on.  As you can see from the build photos after the break the car was basically wrapped with wood and decorated with a few custom decals. One of which probably had the little ones giggling.

Millennium 64 and N64 Pi!

This is the kind of stuff that I really like to see.   Baka Chan is my type of hacker.  Here is his build log of taking the guts from a Nintendo 64, and sticking it in a Millennium Falcon.  It’s not as easy as you would think, just taking the guts and tossing it in another.  You have to  finesse  things, plan it out, and extend a lot of wiring!

So here’s the kicker.  Why go through the trouble of putting the guts in a Millennium Falcon ? (Besides the obvious answer that it’s awesome).  Well because you have one left over from putting a Raspberry Pi inside a N64 case of course silly!   Not the cleanest stuff job I’ve seen, but it works.  Bravo Baka Chan keep ‘em coming.

Mini R2D2 just made my want list

Michiel has a build log of his mini R2D2 project over at letsmakerobots and its turning out really awesome.  I’ve seen the hard core guys who build full scale replicas but never really thought of building a miniature.  He’s broken the build out into sections like Dome, Body, Legs, etc.

He doesn’t have the electronics section up but he is using a Raspberry Pi and a Picaxe micro controller.  I would  guess the Pi handles the main control paths and the Picaxe doing most of the sensor feedback, servos and leds.
